Overview
The Tech Log Application Suite is designed to be the primary method of recording and managing Defects against aircraft. That said, when a defect is raised by crew or maintenance, it is important that this defect be transferred over to CAMP for planning and recording purposes.
Note that this part of the functionality is disabled by default to allow new aircraft time to get familiar with the Tech Log application before impacting data in CAMP. When you are ready, please Contact Support to have it turned on.
Importing Defects
Defects are imported from CAMP as part of Importing Maintenance Items and Defects. They do not follow the Review/Approval Flow and will always be imported and updated automatically providing that the functionality is enabled.
Defects are imported from CAMP based on the category selected and will be created with the defect types:
- Non-Deferred - Creates an open defect in Tech Log, makes the aircraft unserviceable
- Deferred Watchlist - Creates a NEF defect in Tech Log
- MEL - Creates a MEL defect in Tech Log
Defects can be created in CAMP using the discrepancies tab on the navigation menu. Defects can also be created in CAMP when creating a Work Order. When adding discrepancies inside a Work Order make sure to select the correct type of discrepancy as the default selection in CAMP is Deferred Watchlist, which will create a NEF in the Tech Log
Pushing Defects and Changes
Any defect within Tech Log will have updates pushed to CAMP every 4 hours, and any new defect will be pushed almost immediately. Details pushed to CAMP include the type of defect, deferral information, and for Category A MEL Defects, the applicable limits.
Resolving a Defect
Defects resolved within Tech Log will have this information automatically pushed to CAMP so that they will appear as resolved within CAMP as well. They can be included in Workpacks either within Tech Log or CAMP, or simply rectified individually within Tech Log.
Deleting Defects
Defects that are deleted from within the Tech Log Web Dashboard will need to be removed from CAMP independently, as they are not automatically deleted.
