This guide is linked to a previous article which will bring you to the Deferral Options page.
Please note: To add a defect using the MEL method depicted here, you must have a subscription to TrustFlight's MEL manager product. If you do not, you will need to defer a defect using the 'Other' method. Please return to the parent article above and choose 'Other'.
1. After you've reached the deferral page, ensure MEL is selected.
2. Next, begin typing a keyword or MEL reference to narrow your list to appropriate items.
3. If you aren't quite sure of which deferral option to use, you can see the full MEL page by tapping on the "i" next to the item. The ability to view the MEL page via this button is available throughout the entire process as you continue below.
Remember: There can be multiple MEL entries for the same item, but with different deferral periods or remarks. Please read carefully before making your choice as this can impact aircraft serviceability.

Once you are happy with your choice of MEL item, tap the item on the list.
4. You will then be asked if you want to defer or not. At this point you should always choose to defer IAW MEL. A reminder of the rectification interval is shown in red. This date is the last day in which this item can be deferred until. If for any reason you decide not to defer, please click here for how to create a Non-Deferred Defect
5. You will now be presented with the Remarks section of the MEL item. Please ensure that once again, you've thoroughly read the remarks for this choice. Then tap Continue.
6. Next you'll see any placard procedures associated with this MEL item. Please tick the placard once you have actioned the procedure. You will then be taken to the next page.
7. You will now see the Operational Procedures section. Again these procedures will be pulled from your aircraft's MEL. Ensure you have read and actioned the procedures, then tick the box next to the item.
8. Should there be any limitations associated with this defect, you will be presented with these next. Please read them carefully. You can also add/edit any text to these limitations if you feel it necessary to do so. Then tap Continue.
9. Finally, you will be offered the opportunity to add any attachments to this defect. These can be taken from your photo gallery or as a new photo. Once satisfied with this page you can tap on Continue.
10. You'll now see the summary page, outlining all the previous pages you've viewed and acknowledged. The rectification date is repeated on this page in orange as a final reminder before you submit the defect. Tap to add your signature at the bottom, sign and tap Done.
11. This window will now close and you'll see the defects summary page. Depending on how you entered your defect, you'll either see it associated with a flight, or as a standalone entry. This will then either create a new SRP, or append this defect to the current one. The defect will have an amber colour until it changes to overdue, at which point it will turn red.
