Overview:
This release delivers a combination of user-driven features and backend improvements focused on operational flexibility, access control, and platform reliability. Highlights include a new Dent & Buckle management workflow on the web dashboard, giving users an intuitive way to log and review structural damage using aircraft schematics. Pilots now also have the ability to reset a trip to draft if it was accidentally started, reducing operational overhead when managing schedules from third-party systems. Additionally, a new access control setting allows admins to manage user permissions for MEL Manager, ensuring only authorized personnel can access and modify MEL content. Alongside these features, this release includes a series of backend fixes and stability enhancements to further harden the platform and improve the overall user experience across both iOS and web.
What's New
1. Create and manage Dent & Buckle reports directly from the web dashboard
To improve visibility and documentation of structural damage, users can now create and manage Dent & Buckle reports directly within the web dashboard. Once an aircraft schematic is uploaded, users can log new damage by selecting the relevant schematic and placing the item using a drag-and-drop interface. Reports can include notes and optional image attachments for additional context.
This functionality enables maintenance and CAMO teams to quickly view, review, and manage reported structural issues. Reports can be edited or deleted while in the “Reported” state, and once approved (via the iPad app), they become locked to preserve audit history.
This enhancement provides a centralized and intuitive way to track physical damage across the fleet and ensures better collaboration between maintenance and engineering teams.
2. New permission control for MEL Manager access
To improve access control and ensure only authorized users can make changes in MEL Manager, Tech Log now includes a new capability setting: “Access MEL Manager” This permission can be enabled or disabled per user and determines whether the user is allowed to interact with the MEL Manager application.
MEL Manager is a standalone application where previously, any Tech Log user could access MEL Manager if their organization was using it, which could unintentionally allow unauthorized users to modify MELs or publish revisions.
With this update, administrators can explicitly control which users have access. Users without this permission will still be able to log in to Tech Log, but any attempt to access MEL Manager will result in an error screen. This change has no impact on current functionality for existing users — all current users retain access by default.
This feature only applies to customers who are using MEL Manager in conjunction with Tech Log.
3. Reset a trip to draft if started by mistake
To reduce operational disruptions caused by accidental trip activation, pilots can now reset a trip from "In Progress" back to "Draft" directly within the iPad app. This feature is particularly helpful in cases where multiple trips are loaded from a third-party scheduling system and the wrong trip is mistakenly started.
Pilots will now see a "Reset to Draft" button in the top left of the trip view. Selecting this option will prompt the user to confirm the action. Once confirmed, the trip status will revert to "Draft," allowing the correct trip to be started without requiring crew operations support.
Please note that trips which have already been signed by the pilot cannot be reset. In these cases, the trip must proceed through completion.
This update improves resilience to scheduling errors and empowers pilots to resolve common pre-flight issues independently and efficiently.
