Overview:

This alpha release of TrustFlight Smart Documents (SmartDocs) introduces a new way for users to create and manage structured digital documents. The new SmartDocs Reader streamlines the viewing experience, while the SmartDocs Editor supports in-app authoring features. Users can choose between SmartDocs or traditional PDFs as needed, making it easy to adopt these new capabilities at their own pace. This release also includes several bug fixes and improvements for increased stability and reliability.

What's New

1. Smart Digital Documents

Users can now create and manage structured digital documents (SmartDocs) within the One TrustFlight Documents module. SmartDocs offer enhanced accessibility, more comprehensive diffing, version control with robust audit trails, in-app authoring and collaboration, deep linking to other documents and regulations, integration of document data with other QMS elements, and advanced AI tools. While SmartDocs effectively replace traditional PDF documents in the system, users still have the option to choose between SmartDocs or PDFs as needed. Users are prompted to select the type of document they wish to create during the document creation flow.

2. SmartDocs Reader

Users view SmartDocs within the SmartDocs reader. This reader will open automatically for SmartDocs in a similar manner to the PDF reader for PDF documents. Current reader functionality includes.

• Personal Highlights: Users can highlight text within the SmartDocs reader by selecting the appropriate option from the toolbar. These highlights are only visible to the reader.

3. SmartDocs Editor

Users author SmartDocs using the SmartDocs editor. Users with appropriate permissions are able to access the editor by selecting “edit document” from within the SmartDocs Reader. This option is available for revisions which are in “Draft” and editing is not available for “Published” revisions. Current editor functionality includes:

• Bold, Italic, Underline and Strikethrough

• Auto-Bullets and Numbering

• Spell Check

• Undo/Redo

• Complex Tables

• Embedded Images

• Automatic and Manual Page Breaks

• Editorial Comments & Highlights

Bug Fixes

• Fixed a bug which caused the editor to crash when adding notes.

• SmartDocs will now lock as intended when published.

• SmartDocs will now open in reader view by default.

• SmartDocs status can now be viewed in the editor.

• The option to read and acknowledge documents has been added to the SmartDocs reader.
