Overview
By using an AI vision model, we have created a feature to allow users to import text and maintain the original format.
Activating the feature in MEL Manager
To activate this feature in your text editor, simply click on the purple icon and it will turn green as shown below. Once the icon is green, you're ready to start importing content!

Pasting Content
To import content, you can simply take a screenshot of the text/tables you wish to import (eg. from a PDF) and drag that screenshot into the text editor.
Taking Screenshots
- Once you have your content open, you need to get your computer into screenshot mode.
- On Windows, press the
Windows Logo + Shift + S
keys at the same time and you will see the screen get darker and your mouse will turn into a crosshair cursor. - On MacOS, press the
Command + Shift + 4
keys at the same time and you will see your mouse turn into a crosshair cursor
- On Windows, press the
- Once you are in this screen, you can drag your mouse around the content
- NOTE: Try to keep it as close to the content as possible so that no unwanted formatting is added
- Once you release your mouse, a screenshot of that section of your screen will be taken and you will see the image in the bottom right corner of your screen.
- You can now drag that screenshot from the bottom right of your screen into the MEL Manager text editor and it will process the content and then populate the text editor.
Limitations
We initially tried to get the AI model to apply bold, underlined, italicized and coloured text, but found out that it struggles to understand and will get it incorrect often, so we removed it's ability to do so.
Hopefully when the model progresses in the future, this will be possible.
