When a maintenance action is performed, a maintenance entry is created. This maintenance entry can be output on both Trip updates and Trips.
Trips: A maintenance entry will be placed on a trip in two instances
1. The defect was linked to a trip upon creation - The drop down list shown below displays all the sectors of trips on the aircraft. Choosing one of these sectors will link the defect to the associated trip. Thus, placing the maintenance entry on that Trip's SRP.
2. If maintenance was performed whilst a flight was in progress - If a flight is in progress and hasn't been closed yet, the maintenance entry will be output on that Trips SRP.
Trip update: Otherwise, the maintenance entry will be displayed on a Trip Update. The system will either create a new trip update if there hasn't been one already created for today's date. Or it will output one on an already created trip update.
Deferred and Non-Deferred defects
Maintenance entries display different behaviour depending on if they were raised as Non-Deferred or Deferred.
Non-Deferred: To raise a non-deferred defect, add a new defect on the Defects page and raise the defect without adding a deferral. The defect will be raised and immediately ground the aircraft. The defect details and resolution will both be output in the same line on the same SRP.
Deferred: To raise a deferred defect you must raise the defect and defer it. A deferred maintenance entry will be created and a separate entry will be created upon resolution.
Workpacks: When resolving a defect/maintenance item via a workpack - the maintenance entry will display details of the work carried out. In the below example, the blue highlighted section displays the deferred defect's resolution details. The red highlighted section displays the workpack resolution details.
