Tasking
Once a Method Statement has been created you are able to create a Task, this is the area that records your flights.
1. Click on the ‘Tasking’ button
This directs you to a landing page of all tasks, there is a search area at the top where you are able to select a method statement, a phase and a client, there is also a date searchable date reference to/from.
Below the search function any Tasks that have been started, will be displayed, this includes which phase they are in.
2. To start a new task click on the ‘+ Add Task’ button
The task is shown in its entirety with the Prepare phase and within that the Capture phase highlighted, this is your starting point.
Capture Phase
The capture phase sets out the foundations of this task, it records information about the task name, the method statement used, details of the client, alongside details of the Pilot, any observers, and the equipment that will be used.
1. Enter a name for this task
2. Select a method Statement from the dropdown
3. Enter a client name (this is optional
4. Select a Date From and Date To in the available boxes
5. Within the Participants section, click the ‘Add’ button, add in the names of those performing this task and then select the Role that they are undertaking (you can allocate more than one Role per individual)
6. Enter a Description and Output Required (what you want to achieve from this task), these are optional
7. Click on the ‘Save’ button
An Equipment Selector section is made available after saving.
8. Click on the ‘Edit’ button
There is a checkbox option to show equipment reserved by other tasks, or already allocated alongside a checkbox to show all equipment
All equipment is shown with its relevant equipment status (Green (Ok to use), Yellow (Ok to use but this equipment has a defect), Red (This equipment has a defect, not ok to use))
If you used the mountables option with equipment type, then selecting the UAS type will display all of the equipment that can be used with this UAS type.
9. Select the UAS type and any associated mountables
10. Click on the ‘Save’ button
Plan Phase
The plan phase will hold any information relating to the method statement including any associated risk assessments.
1. Click on the ‘Plan’ phase under the Prepare section
2. Under the Required Risk Assessments section (if there is a risk assessment), click on the ‘Start’ button
3. Select if this a Repeated, or a One-off assessment
4. Click on the ‘Save’ button
5. Complete the risk assessment template for this specific task, assessing each hazard
6. Submit the risk assessment for review
7. Return to the task
Deploy Phase
The deploy phase houses any required checks prior to flying.
1. Click on the ‘Deploy’ phase
2. Click on the ‘Start’ button of any checks that need to be completed
3. Complete the Checklist
4. Click on the ‘Back to Task’ button
Fly Phase
The fly phase is he area where your flights are captured.
1. Click on the ‘Fly’ Phase
2. Click on the ‘Add flight’ button
3. The Pilot details and Payload details will be populated automatically, add in any observers plus additional roles if required by selecting from the dropdown lists
4. Enter in the equipment details within the Equipment section
5. Select a check box, if this is the first flight of the day, or the last flight of the day, selecting these might evoke additional checks depending on your equipment or method checklist checks
6. Enter any additional information (if required) within the Information section
7. Click on the ‘Save’ button
8. Click on the ‘Pre-Flight’ button at the bottom of the page
9. Complete any checks (Click on the ‘Start’ button)
10. If there are any checks, click on the ‘Back to Task’ button
11. Click on the ‘Launch’ button
A flight record is created, a ‘Land’ button also appears. The Take-Off is documented, the Landing displays 00:00 until a landing has been recorded.
12. Click on the ‘Land’ button to complete this flight
After flight completion there are areas to input any defects to equipment, or charges to batteries. There is a further option of adding a new flight by using the ‘Add Next Flight’ button
Adding additional flights follows the same process as starting the original flight.
Details are entered in for the Roles, the Equipment used. Recording of the flight through the Launch and the Land buttons.
Launch and Land can be adjusted using the ‘Edit’ button within that flight phase.
There is also an ‘All Flights’ button, clicking this will display all the flights recorded for this task.
You can also add additional flights via this page by using the ‘Add Flight’ button
Recover Phase
The recover phase provides an overview of all equipment used within the task, this includes the number of flights, or sectors, and flight hours.
There is an area where defects of equipment can be logged, and charges for batteries.
Flight sectors and hours will only show if the equipment class is configured to show Operational Cycles and Time.
1. Click on the ‘Recover Phase’
This displays a summary of the equipment used for his task.
Clicking on the ‘Charge’ button for a battery allows you to add a charge through the ‘Add’ button
Clicking on the ‘Flights/Sectors’ button allows you to add defects to specific sectors of this task (if required).
This displays the details of the equipment usage.
2. Complete any defect details
3. Click on the ‘Task Completed’ button to close this task.
4. Click on the ‘OK’ button of the pop-up prompt
